Trap Squad promo tour kicks off

You cant talk of Malawian hiphop crews without trap squad, this clique has been there is there and will always be there in the Mdubz history book. Its one of the kind under Trap Entertainment and with no objection the entertainment firm has the best of producers Malawi has ever seen.

Seeing how great the squad has been doing for the past few years, they think its time to reach out to their fans all across the nation with a promo tour which kicks of this saturday in the city of Zomba. The main purpose of this tour is to promote their upcoming album which drops around july. The album will be a bomb as one of the heavyweights in the squad Revolver puts it down.

Revolver said the whole squad is concerned about their fans and thats why they are trying as much as posible to get music to them in a very special way like no other crew would do. They want these royal fans to be fully satisfied with every outcome of any concept brought by the squad. Somebody or Nobody is just one of such products and Volver made it clear that there is a package of suprises awaiting every trap squad fan out there. One of the surprises will be somebody or nobody remix which ofcourse he wouldnt shine more light on wheather there`s gonna be a video or not, he just wants to surprise everyone with it.

With this tour kicking off, trap squad would like all its fans to expect the best of the its perfomance so if there`s any fan out there who was doubting of being part of this tour they better think twice and never let this slip through their fingers. This is their time to see trap squad do what it does on stage with the likes of Slessor, Terminals family etc. Zomba community hall will do the honours of kickstarting this tour, by 3PM the hall will surely be on fire.

"When we say the squad is in the building you gotta believe that its really in the building. There is a very stiff competition in Malawi urban music but I tell you this, Trap Squad will always stand up. We will always give what our fans expect from us, as we are starting this tour in Zomba let Lilongwe and Mulanje get ready because we will be there. The squad aint tell no lie" said Revolver

Asked on how organisers plan shows in Malawi Revolver said he would love it much to see them being serious with their roles. They shouldnt just rush  but rather they should be extra organised and also they should see into the welfare of  fans, artists and ofcourse the standards of their show so as to entertain people in a way they wanted. More corporate involvement would also be more than welcome to him because to him thats one of the best things that can help in uplifting Malawi music.

Last year Trap Entertainment signed Sir Patricks, this is another heat added to the squad. The ndizamtsatila hit maker is not different from Stitch Fray, they got outstanding styles. Mixing them with Revolver and Chavura makes it way much dope than ever. With Sir Patricks the squad thinks for now its balanced and that there is no need for signing another artist until they feel like doing so.

K Willz drops rise and shine

Music is something that has a purpose in somebody`s life, it helps in dealing with some everyday situations either tough or simple. One might use music to get out of loneliness, some may use it to  uplift their souls and get strengthened while others use it just for fun.

Everyday we see a bunch of artists coming up with songs of different concepts, be it love, gospel or just something fun. These concepts are meant for different listeners out there who after listening feel so much connected to the messages put in the songs. Therefore as an artist one needs to at least try and get into people`s minds so as to get the necessary messages in their songs.

Looking at how people want the messages delivered, a  Zomba based artist who goes by the name K Willz thought it wise to look at life and see what can move someone`s emotions when put in a song. After a wide range of research he found out that people need to hear what they go through, they need something that can help them understand any possible situation they might have found themselves into.

To him when someone is in a deep emotional breakdown they need somebody who can come and comfort them, somebody who can hold their hands and help them up. This is why he thought of dropping one hot track for everybody who feels down so that they can rise and shine. He chose rise and shine as the title for the song and he believes that after listening to the song those who are in need of a hand will feel that they are not alone. He believes God is the best helper and that`s why He created artists like Willz who can help install and spread  love, hope, faith and strength to those in need using the power of music.

K Willz is currently working with B2 Records which is one of the reliable recording studio in the city. He started his music journey in 2007 with his best friend Tama (G.N.R) after being inspired by 2pac. Listening to Pac made Willz realize he can also make music and then use that same music to  help others. To him putting God in charge of everything is the best thing an artist can do, God can direct you into composing good music which can be much more entertaining, informing and educating at the same time.

He would love it to see his music reach out to every african and beyond, this rise and shine is just something to begin with. He wants his music to have a positive impact on many souls across the globe, it wont be easy for him but with God on his side this young man believes he will make it.

The Government should do something about Malawian art says Chycoon

Born in Zambia, raised in Malawi Chainda Mbera commonly known as Conel Chycoon is one regga/dancehall artist you wont afford to miss when it comes to playing urban vibes in Malawi. The 28 year old star who believes Malawi music is getting better every second blames the government for not taking its part in the promotion of art in the country.

Chycoon says every day a hot artist rises from the ghettos with a great deal of skills that can be of much help to the artist and to the government as well. He believes that only if government takes a bigger role in art. artists will be respected in a way any artist deserves to be. He suggests that  government should atleast come up with policies that will give a bit of protection to art and that it should also organize events which can be a platform for artists to gain their much needed exposure which in conjunction with good promotion and distribution will highly benefit every talented person out there.

He also urge government to direct local media houses to put local talent first, it pains him the most to see that though Malawians are doing the best they can these media houses keep promoting art from abroad more than they do with local products. To him atleast 80-90%  of airplay should be home made products and the rest should be for foreign products.

It would also be of great pleasure to him if the same government can be stiff enough to deal with piracy issues in the country. He says piracy strips off artist's benefits as pirates are the ones who gets the bigger pie leaving an artist with nothing but just a simple name in the industry. This is really unfair, why is it that the one who enjoys the sweetness of the fruits isnt the one who sweats?

Asked if the ministry responsible is capable of doing this Chycoon says he absolutely believe it can deliver because the people in those offices were voted to do what matters to their people and this is one thing that matters most to each and every artist in the country.
"I believe our govenment can do it, yes i know that it can make our industry a better place for every artist here. Look at our music, its outstanding. We can compete with our international counterparts, our level of standards is getting better each and everyday so government should just hurry up and clean the mess we have in the industry" said Chycoon

"Big up to the few radio and tv personalities who make sure Malawian talent is exposed to the max but i would like to urge those who stick to foreign talent to try and promote local stuff which is much relavant to Malawians. All the people who support me and ofcourse other local artists i say salute we cant be where we are without you guys. One love to every producer out there who i've worked with and everybody out there salute, expect my album coming out later this year" he added

One time freedom is the album that he is supposed to drop later this year and he made it clear that its gonna be one of the kind with the coolest vibes ever. He chose to take time so that when the album drops it really should carry what people need to hear.

I can handle it: Uniq Mic

Recently Lilongwe based hiphop artist Uniq Mic made an announcement that he is working on a mixtape which by then had two options for a tittle that is The Movement and The year of the mic. Last week topview updates had to ask him on the progress of that very same untittled mixtape and the Grown Simba hit maker was proud to say he has now finally made a decision on what will be the title for the mixtape.

To him it was quiet challenging to decide as both of the titles are very much relavant to the mixtape as a whole but he had to choose The Movement. This mixtape is supposed to be released as soon as possible and the star thinks he can handle the heat and the pressure that is placed on him as he has to work on singles as well the mixtape. Uniq thinks he can handle it well because lyrics to him just come everytime evrywhere as long as he is in a great mood, he calls that as one of his blessings.

Everything around him inspires his art, he can make a song out of his personal experiences or other peoples experiences as well. Courage is all he need and thats something he get from people who appreciate his work, for example he got much encouraged by people from abroad when he released being a man a song which was written in a day but full of realities as people relate it to their personal expriences.

The only approach to doing the right thing in music is to catch lyrics which are applicable to real life, thats the only great way he can think of. He thinks that this is the best way because you dont have to lie or bring doubt to your listeners but you only show them what they know and what they can easily  believe. But if you make some fiction music someone may easily fall out of your music because they will find it hard to believe and perhaps hard to relate it to their own life.

"I would like to urge all my fellow artists to focus on reality when making music, its easy and quiet applicable to others. I also wanna make it clear that though there is much pressure on me to releaase a mixtape in just a month i will do everything in my artistic power to deliver the best.  I can handle it just watch how The Movement is gonna be like" said Uniq

"Artists should avoid filling the industry with unrelated stuff, lets be real and lets rap about what we know so that when others give out an ear to our songs they should have that feeling of i want some more from this guy" he added

Just soon after he released grown simba Uniq Mic is working on yet another dope tune in which he features Advocate, a rapper from Chanco on a beat produced by Vin C who happens to be his room mate. A room mate is commonly known as a mesho in Malawian schools. He also plans to drop a tune with Ray Millz on a Young LT beat, Young LT is yet another dope producer Malawi has ever raised.
