We lack unity and team spirit in mdubs-Biggie Lu

Everybody knows that for something to be of high standards and quality there is need for a number of things to consider. Take shooting a video for example, you cant just wake up with no knowledge of what you are doing and get blown by the wind in any possible direction, rather you plan with a bit of a vision that's when you come to a great product.

For many years now we have had a problem in Malawi urban music, its always been a confusing journey ever since. If you ask someone now which side is better than the other according to music you will get a very confusing scenario. One group will say Blantyre is better, the other will go for Lilongwe and then you will see that there is another group opting for Mzuzu. But do we really have a better side?

"There is no such thing as a better side..... i can assure you that. Every side has their best and worst artists. We have great artists in the southside, central and same goes with the northside. At the same time we have the wackiest  artists in all corners of the nation so stop stupid arguments that there is a best side in Malawi." said Biggie Lu

"What we need is people appreciating and supporting any artist no matter which side they are coming from. We need to create that team working spirit and unite both fans and artists, you know sometimes its fans who start all the nonsense" he added.

Biggie Lu is one of the undisputed artists from Karonga a town that has really been sidelined for almost all these years in terms of music. Coming from the town Biggie believes he has alot to prove, he knows that he will surely make everybody realize that where somebody comes from doesnt matter but what matters is the talent and skill they possess.

As part of showing that he is ready to work with any serious artist, Biggie Lu will this coming friday share a stage during the relaunch of a lodge called  Giants Green Park in Karonga with the likes of Nepman the nalero hitmaker and Pampene Alliance the giant of dancehall music in the town. This will also be a part of uplifting Karonga based artists who will have a chance to showcase there skills and prove that though the town has been put aside for a long time it still holds the best of its kind. The lodge is owned by Biggie`s father so you can just imagine the heat that Biggie will put into this event.

Biggie Lu knows and believes that music can be instrumental in strengthening a bond between people of different races and tribes. He also believes that if all artists work as a team music can be a movement for all and for sure our industry wouldn't be the same.

"I dont choose a person whom i can work with, i work with everyone provided that they bring forth good ideas and would like to promote peace and harmony. I dont like beef music,it really cant get any artist that far. People wanna hear what matters to them, they want what will remind them of some good memories and perhaps something that will make them act in a very pleasing way. They wanna be happy so lets make music that will be for each and every listener out there" said Biggie

The show starts at exactly 7PM and everybody is invited to witness this great deal of a show. For more information on this show you can follow Biggie Lu on twitter and facebook.

Real writers dont concentrate on rhyme says Gud Fly

Hiphop in Malawi has had a massive entrance of new cats recently. These cats have been trying to prove alot of things since they stepped on the hiphop battle scene. Some try as much as possible to be seen with unlimited collection of bling and others try to showcase their rhyming skills.

As much as they try to convince people that they are doing it to their best, some of these cats fail to standout as rhyme champions. You can tell by how many of them change the direction of their concepts in their various songs. One may start with a nice concept but because they want to fit in as many rhyming words as they can they end up getting trash into their work hence making their work unprofessional.

Gud Fly has been in the game for years now and if you have ever listened to his songs am sure you can tell that he is a great storyteller and a rhymer as well. When he tells a story in his songs he normally dont change the subject, he sticks to it no matter how many rhymes he fits in his lines.

To him playing with words is no big deal but it takes one's creativity and then connecting that skill to the real world in a very orderly manner. It might be fictional but  a great deal of creativity in your lyrics would make it one of the kind and it would be very hard to doubt a word from it. These same lyrics will for sure show how your mind can visualize stuff and then create moods with different feelings to your listeners. If you do it in a nice way your music will always standout as one of the best that has ever been.

"Being creative whether fictional or not is where you look at all those things and then see your target then realize how your creativity will impact them" said Gud Fly

"To say the truth real writers will never  concentrate on rhyme,   when sketching you need to write down your pad words as they come. When done you start rearranging and then maybe fit in some rhymes where it is necessary to do so" he added.

Gud Fly believes too much rhyming when done in a wrong way would lead you out of your own sweet concept. He believes in telling a story just the way people can easily understand and follow  very well. He also believe that if you want rhyming words its better to make them evolve around your concept otherwise dont try rhyming without a reason.

When asked of a percentage he would give to Malawian rappers, the zichepe hitmaker said only a 20% would be enough just considering those who made it in the game and believes there is a much better  percentage when you consider writers behind the scene. He has quiet a knowledgeable understanding and feeling that there are songwriters out there who are way much better than most of the common names we know in the game.

We also asked this star on the matter of diss music and what he said was quiet understandable and hard to argue with. He indicated that diss music can help both parties involved in different ways, if only Malawi had a great music industry there would be massive sales of the outcomes and there would also be an extra way to stay active in the game.

"Hahaha you know diss music is quiet interesting, its great. It can really help you up your game, the only problem here in Malawi is that we dont have a reliable industry but look at our friends, when there is a verbal war they make alot of sales. And as for me, i would love it if i were dissed by a dope rapper because i would totally defend my lane and perhaps people would see how better off i am than them." he said

Recently Gud Fly and Trap Squad have been at each others necks like nobody's business, when asked about it Gud Fly said the squad just talks but never walk and that they are no match to him.

"Trap Squad? hahaha am even shocked most of the times when they update stupid statuses on facebook. They can bitch on social media all day but if they take it on to the studio they just crumble. They aint no match to me" said the naughty Gud Fly.

Meet Wakisa James.. one of the golden voices in Malawi music

Malawi urban music is nowadays a package of outstanding talented young men and ladies, Wakisa James is one of these kind of people that makes the package worth a listen. This upcoming singer/songwriter is based in Mzuzu, Malawi's northern city and is signed to ofatsa music inc. The young star never took no time to realise that he got something within himself, something more valuable. He knew that he could use that something for good, he knew he would entertain, educate and perhaps inspire and motivate others with it. That something was the music that he felt from deep within his heart.

The love of using his music to reach out to others caught his heart just by the tender age of 14, that time was just so magical to him and ever since his dream is to reach out to almost every human being out there regardless of their race, nationality, tribe and age.During his secondary school days Wakisa realised that school should be his priority so he took a break from recording and dedicating much of his time to music. His break was only for 2years thats from 2008 to 2010.

When he got back into the music business it was just a non stop journey for him, nothing would come into the way as he was fully armed to take over the music industry. He formed a clique known as EK Bwaiz with his friend and the clique made a very impressive impact in the urban music of the northside. In 2012 Wakisa's music journey just got fueled up when he got signed to a South African based entertainment firm known as  Best Variety Entertainment. Under the firm he released  a track dubbed kamkazi which enjoyed massive airplay both on Tv and on radio. The music video was directed by one of Malawi's best directors Chipie Khonje.

Followings some challenges with Best Variety Entertainment Wakisa had to part ways with them and maybe look for greener pasture somewhere hence he got signed to Ofatsa Music Inc last year. With Ofatsa Music Inc Wakisa has just released Dalitsani anzanga hit plus its video and believe me its one of the kind video you wont afford to miss.

You might be wondering like what genre this young man is into, but hey the man is giving best of shots in reggae, dancehall and some afro R&B. Topview updates' reporter Lawrent Nyirenda asked Wakisa if maybe he may happen to be a rastaman but he made it very clear that he is by no means a rastaman.

"Hahahaha, nuh!! i just have a passion for reggae music, am not a rastaman. People gotta realise that one  is not a rastaman just because he is into reggae music" said Wakisa

"Honestly i believe music is a way of communicating with different individuals out there, i try to give out music that will touch almost every corner of life as a whole. I believe in making music out of real life, if you give a listen to my works am sure you will get something out of it" he added.

Asked on how he sees the music industry in Malawi, Wakisa said he sees a brighter future in it. He points out a number of elements that are making the industry a better one like the fact that we now have a stiff competetion among producers who are doing the best they can to atleast uplift the standards of music in the country and that artists themselves are also working hard so as to give out what people need to hear.

Wakisa recently released a track titled wanga wanga which features the likes of Crispy, Ken Lo and Young Dre.He has also jumped on Cuff B's Love chemistry riddim and he makes it clear that his fans out there should expect more good music and videos from him.He would like to make 2015 a fruitful year as he will make sure that his name and his music gets all over Malawi and that he collaborates with atleast 2 of Malawi's cream in the urban music circles. Soon enough Wakisa will be dropping an album and a new music video so we urge you to keep an eye open so that you may see it coming.

If somebody would like to book or work with Wakisa, they have to go through his management team at Ofatsa Music Inc and their email address is ofatsamusic.inc@gmail.com or just call him directly on +265884207368
